Nonprofit & Transparency

Deaf New Americans Maine (DNAMaine) is a Deaf-led nonprofit initiative dedicated to supporting Deaf immigrants and Deaf New Americans in Maine through advocacy, education, and community-based support.
DNAMaine is currently in the organizational development phase and is working toward formal nonprofit incorporation and future application for 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status.
During this phase, DNAMaine operates with a strong commitment to transparency, accountability, and responsible stewardship of resources.
Fiscal Support & Partnerships
to support its early development and community programs, DNAMaine collaborates with established nonprofit partners and community organizations.
Program funding and fiscal support may be administered through partner organizations while DNAMaine builds its independent nonprofit infrastructure.
Transparency & Accountability
DNAMaine is committed to ethical leadership, transparency, and community trust.
Our work is guided by:
-
Deaf-led leadership and lived experience
-
Clear organizational policies and bylaws
-
Responsible use of funds for mission-driven programs
-
Community accountability and long-term sustainability
DNAMaine does not operate for private benefit. All funds and resources support programs and services aligned with our mission.
Path Toward 501(c)(3) Status
DNAMaine plans to pursue:
-
Formal nonprofit incorporation
-
Establishment of a governing Board of Directors
-
Application for federal 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status
This process will be undertaken as the organization grows and is prepared to sustain independent nonprofit operations.
